Here are some thoughts on the series.

Colors bring bursts of feeling and can define people. Some people are blue all the time and some people change colors, so to speak. We have personal relationships with color. Kids get this.

What children become as adults can be shaped by how much they've been encouraged to fall into their blueness, blackness, greenness, their individuality when young.

There's a yellow you, a red you. How do these colors become a part of us?

We believe that the more a child is encouraged to explore their creative imagination, the more they are able to become their unique self. With these books, we encourage kids to jump into their feelings for and ideas about color. We aim to visibly speak each color. Colors are isolated so kids learn to identify them first and then begin to see the associative power of each color.

Examples from nature, food, music, art, architecture, everyday items and concepts that the colors are famous for (e.g. the blues) are shown, to illustrate how color penetrates, interacts and influences our lives.

At the end of each book, there is an interactive page for the reader to put in their own pictures. Swatches of each color in different shades are included with a frame to put them in so the child can participate in the personal, hands-on experience of knowing and enjoying the gorgeous world of color.
